Ice Kacang Puppy Love is a movie directed by Ah Niu, popular singer in Malaysia, Taiwan and China. The story of Ice Kacang Puppy Love was set in early 80s which is based largely on Ah Niu’s puppy love story and childhood experiences in Penang. That’s why the movie features a few heritage sites in Penang such as Chew’s Jetty, Esplanade, Penang Ferry and Khoo Kongsi.

Chew Jetty - this is where Ah Niu and the actress, Lee Sinje back to hometown at Penang Chew Jetty to look for her father. Chew Jetty is one of the largest clan jetties along Weld Quay. This is unique chinese settlements along Weld Quay, with homes built along wooden piers that extend to Penang Channel. It has been in existence since 19th century. The residents of each clan jetty are descendants of chinese immigrants that reflect the distinct historical, geographical and lineage of its populace.
Penang Botanical Gardens 126th Year Ceremony – Penang Botanical Gardens was established in 1884. It also known as waterfalls gardens nowadays. The history back to 1884 when English, Dutch and Portuguese were competing to monopolize the spice business in the archipelago and Botanical Gardens had been used by England to be the breeding site for plants that were high in economy values. Various kinds of spices were introduced and planted there to encourage the widespread cultivation in the farm. Lately in 1956, the Penang State Government took over the garden and appointed the local residents.
In conjunction with 126 years of the Penang Botanical Garden establishment, various events will be held all year round from April till December 2010. Those events can be found in the Penang 2010 Calendar Of Events. One of the events is Symposium of 126 years of Penang Botanical Gardens in September. Other events such as Penang Flower Festival will begin from 27th November 2010 until 5th December 2010.
The most happening event of the year come to Georgetown Penang. GO Penang International 2010 Megafest will be held from 12 to 14 March 2010 at Penang Esplanade! An event jointly organized by the Penang State Tourism Development & Culture and ROOTS Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd, the Go Penang International 2010 is a total experience Mega Festival engineered to make your adrenaline rush and heart thumps throughout the three-day event with Go-kart and Food as one of the main attractions of the event.
Penang, once well known for its popular Grand Prix in the 1970′s will once again be thrilled with an event involving motorsports after almost 30 years in which no other street motorsports was held here. Therefore, now the State Government would like to bring back the glory and the hype of motorsports to the streets of Penang! If this go-kart event is successfully held and supported by the public, we may just be able to look into bringing back Grand Prix to the Pearl of the Orient in the future.
MY PENANG CNY Reunion Celebration 2010 and Chap Goh Meh Celebration will take place on 27th and 28th February at Esplanade from 5.30 pm until late night. Jointly organised by the State Government and GO International and co-hosted by MY Astro, themed “For the love of Penang, come home’, the MY PENANG CNY Reunion Celebration 2010 and Chap Goh Meh Celebration promises to mark the culmination of the Chinese New Year celebration with nothing less than spectacular performances by celebrities from Taiwan and Kuala Lumpur, cultural and contemporary variety shows, a fashion bazaar and full moon street party.

Georgetown Penang Party 2010
Georgetown, Penang Countdown of the decade to welcome the year of 2010. The wonderful party will involve great international singers and hot bands to rock the scene on New Year’s Eve. Penang Chingay and Lion Dance Parade is back on 27th Dec 2009. Chingay is regarded by other news media, as it is taken from the Chinese dialect Hokkien “chin yi” in pronunciation, which means true art.
The key attractive of this year parade will be 10 lion dance teams, two dragon dance teams and a decorated dragon boat on wheels joining in the parade. This event is co-organised by the Penang Government, Penang Wushu, Lion and Dragon Dance Association, Northern Malaysia Chingay Association, Penang Chingay Association and Seberang Prai Chingay Association.
Don’t miss this annual event which begin at Padang Brown in Datuk Keramat at 7.30pm and go through Datuk Keramat Road, Penang Road, Burma Road, Transfer Road, Sri Bahari Road, Penang Road, Chulia Street, Jalan Mesjid Kapitan Keling and Light Street.
